With the Smart Summary Webpart it is possible to merge data across the site collection. For Example you can display all tasks, checked-out documents and appointments in a SharePoint Platform on a dashboard site, which is really timesaving for the user.

Any kind of data can be aggregated into a single view, with the Smart Summary WebPart. In our example, we aggregate the events of all site collections, which could be interesting for the user.
The user can compose the data aggregation via the settings page of the Webpart.
The Fields to be displayed can be configured in the Webpart settings. Of course filtering and sorting of the results is possible via the header.
Thus he has the option to aggregate a particular list, all documents or all documents of a specific content type. The selection of columns, sorting, and the filtering of the results are explicit implemented like the configuration of a view.
After the user has made the adjustment to a list, document, or content type, he can select the columns to be displayed and sort them from left to right. Afterwards the user can create a hyperlink to a selected column and sort the results list. The user can activate “enable filters”, if he wants to filter the results list.
Now the user has the possibility to set a sorting on any column. There he can also use the keywords [ME] and [Today]. Additionally the operators “equal”, “contains” and “not equal” will be provided.
Another function of the data aggregation will be available by the use of the “Collaboration Manager”. Then it is possible to link aggregated content from a work area with information of a workspace list.
